Dale Louis Jones, Sr., affectionately known to others as "Head," tragically passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at approximately 6:10 p.m. in Houston, Texas.  His death has broke the hearts of many who knew him as a loving husband, father, son, uncle, brother, cousin and friend.
Dale Louis Jones, Sr. was born on December 23, 1965 in Monroe, Louisiana to proud and loving parents, Lottie Jones and Joe Pitts, Sr.  He spent his childhood in Bastrop, Louisiana where he received his formal education and graduated from Bastrop Senior High School.
Upon graduating from high school, Dale furthered his education at Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, Louisiana, where he pledged and became a member of Phi Beta Sigma, Inc.  He also attended Louisiana State University (LSU) for summer school.
After college, "Head" moved to Houston, Texas to live with his uncles, the late Bobbie Lee, Robert and Eddie Jones, and together they started a family company which they named Jones & Lee, Inc.   He united in marriage with Denetria Mapps and was the father of nine children, and lovingly filled the gap and role of a father to two nieces and one nephew.
Throughout his life, "Head" met a lot of people who soon became like family.  He helped raised so many children, and then their children.  He had one dear friend and "best man", who he was with every day and also passed away with him on the same day:  Darrell "Black" O'Neal.
"Head" will be missed by so many people; too many to count.  He listened to everyone's problems and gave great advice, and just about every time he was right.  He never turned away anyone in need, even if he new you were not being truthful.  Whenever asked, "How are you," his response was always the sane: "I'm alright, how about you?"  He would always say "It's hard but it's fair...it could be worse."  This is the only moment we've known him to be wrong.
We could go on and on telling you about this great, loving, kind, generous, huge-hearted, great husband, the best father and friend.  If we did, it would never end.  He was simply a man with a gold heart.
Dale Louis "Head" Jones, Sr. was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rosie Jones; uncles, Eddie Jones, Robert Jones and David Jones; and Nakkita Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Denetria Mapps-Jones; six sons, Dale Jr., Delvin, Andrew, LaRay, Reginald and Samario; three daughters, Damyah, LaDaeshia (Ray) and Kamoura; one grandson, Demarcus Tarlton, all of Houston, Texas;  siblings, Glenda Thomas (Okell) of Houston, Texas, Sharon Pitts of Dallas, Texas, Fredrick Charles Jones (Andrea) of Seattle, Washington, Eric Dunn, Fredrick Dunn, Paul Charles Pitts and Joe Pitts, Sr., all of Dallas, Texas; two nieces and one nephew whom he helped his sister raise, LaTisha Jones, Tiffany Jones and Samario Jones, all of Houston, Texas; uncle, Bobbie Lee and Wayford Jones (Florence) of Houston, Texas; aunts, Julia Reece (James) of Seattle, Washington and Sadie Jones; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
