Beatrice Chassion Young was born on June 24, 1931 in Lafayette, Louisiana to Telesmar and Cecelia Hudson Chassion. She attended school in Crowley at St. Theresa Catholic school until the 11th grade.

She came to Houston in the 1950s, where she met Herbert Young, Sr., the love of her life. During their time together, they enjoyed spending time with family and friends. On several occasions, vacations included visits with family in California or Louisiana. Although their marriage did not produce children together, Beatrice always viewed herself as a second mother to her stepchildren, nieces and nephews. Herbert and Beatrice were married for 32 years until his death in 1990.

Beatrice worked for Herbert and Helen Arnoff for 25 years and thoroughly cherished her time and relationship with this family. She always talked about the Arnoff’s as an extension of family; always demonstrating compassion and support. She remained in contact with the family until her death.

Beatrice was born and raised in the Catholic faith. She was an active Catholic and proud member of Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church since arriving in Houston. She enjoyed attending Mass and reading scriptures as well as watching some of her favorite religious programs. She always talked about being prepared to be with the Lord.

During her many years of celebrating joyous occasions, she thoroughly enjoyed celebrating birthdays, graduations, weddings, holidays and numerous other special occasions with family. She enjoyed chef-like cooking and baking her famous coconut cake. She also enjoyed listening to music on the weekends.

Beatrice Young departed this Earth on April 15, 2026. As a loving Christian, she will be dearly missed. Those who are left to cherish precious memories are: her devoted nieces Cynthia Chassion Larkin and Marion Chassion-Gatewood (Daryl), and great niece Whitney Larkin, along with a host of other family members and dear friends.

Beatrice Young departed this life April 15, 2026. Visitation Tuesday May 12, 2026, from 8-10am. Funeral 10am. Services will be held at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church 4000 Sumpter St. Burial Houston National V.A. Cemetery.
