Ernestine Washington

Ernestine Washington was born in Haynesville , LA on May 4, 1945 to Minnie Lane and John W. Gill. She passed away peacefully after loosing her battle with Parkinson's Disease. She moved to Houston  at the age of 12 in 1957. Graduated high school in 1963. Ernestine moved to California in the late 60's to attend college, all while doing so she married and had two daughters. She worked in retail and retired from Sam's Club after 18 plus years.

She loved spending time with her family, watching Lifetime, Halmark movies and listening to music,  all while eating something sweet ! She loved her sweets. Her favorite artists were the  Manhattans, Sam Cooke and Johnnie Taylor.

She was a good listener and the to go to person for reassurance and advice !

She leaves to mourn her sisters Gloria Austin, Johnnie Ford and Vassie Faye Knight . Her two daughters Erika D Johnson and Anika R Shadowens and their spouses Jeffery Johnson and Troy Shadowens . Also her grandchildren Bakari Ford, Kayla Ford, Markus Reed, Tyree Grosvenor and Tiona Shadowens. Her great grand children Camila and Natalia Reed . And a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She will truly be missed !
