Glen Anthony
Labrie
July 23, 1949 – May 1, 2025
Glen Anthony Labrie, 75, of Houston, Texas, passed away on May 1, 2025.
Glen was born on July 23, 1949, to Felix and Sophronia Labrie in Houston, Texas. Glen adored his family, which included his one brother (Keith) and two sisters (Janet and Linda). At an early age, he took on adult tasks to help his parents, who both worked and took care of Linda, who was born with a heart condition. Glen was always willing to do anything to help his parents and family. He excelled at Kashmere Gardens High School, Class of 1967. He played the saxophone under the tutelage of world-renowned band director Conrad Johnson, earned membership into the Mu Alpha Theta National Mathematics club, was voted "Most Studious" by his peers, and graduated Valedictorian. He was the first in his family to pursue a higher education with a full academic scholarship and graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science.
After graduating, he started his career at Dupont La Porte Chemical plant in Pasadena, Texas, kickstarting a 35-year career in Chemical Operations. Glen started his family and fully embraced fatherhood with a hands-on approach for his daughter, Michelle, and son, Anthony. He defined the meaning of the title, Dad, and his children came first as there were no limits to what he would do for them. He was loving, Godly, hardworking, goal oriented, honest, transparent, a caretaker for those in need, and so much fun to be around.
He retired as a Chemical Supervisor in 2006. After retirement he spent his time with family, staying on top of current events, watching westerns, and cooking. His extraordinary passion for mathematics led him to substitute teaching for 13 years, where he shared his knowledge of mathematics. He touched the lives of many children by mentoring at C.E. King High School in Sheldon Independent School District. His other passions were sports, politics, music, and current events. His conversations left a lasting memory that provided a ton of laughter. Everyone he met of all ages enjoyed having conversations with him and desired more time, after they were over. Glen was predeceased by his sister Linda Labrie, father Felix Labrie, and mother Sophronia Goudeau Labrie.
He is survived by his children Michelle Thomas (Chad Thomas), and Glen Labrie Jr. Also, his grandchildren Rose Thomas, Braden Torres-Labrie, Glen Labrie III, Cameron Labrie, Sloane Labrie, Luna Labrie, sister Janet Green (Jacob Green), brother Keith Labrie, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Glen will be deeply missed.
On May 8, 2025, the Wake will take place at Ross Mortuary Inc. from 5-8 pm.
On May 9, 2025, at Ross Mortuary Inc., the viewing begins at 9 AM and will be proceeded by a Rosary at 10 AM. The official funeral service starts at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made towards Glen's brother-in-law, Jacob Green's charitable organization, aligned with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, in the fight against cancer.
