Lena Francois
Williams
May 10, 1940 – October 28, 2025
Lena Mae Francois Williams was born on May 10, 1940, in St. Martinville, Louisiana, to the late Julius Francois and Angelina Savoy Francois. She peacefully departed this life on October 28, 2025.
Lena was baptized and raised in the Catholic faith, later deepening her Christian walk through service and devotion. She accepted Christ early in life and faithfully served as a Bible school teacher, sharing her love of Scripture with children and adults alike.
As a young woman, Lena moved to Houston, Texas, with aspirations to help others through compassionate care. Though she did not complete high school, her determination, kindness, and strong work ethic led to a rewarding career as a nursing aide, where she comforted patients and families with dignity and grace. In her late 60s, she defied all the odds by going back to finish her G.E.D. and even took college courses at the University of Houston-Downtown.
She was united in marriage to the late Rev. James A. Williams, Sr. and together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family.
Lena is survived by her devoted children, Rexford E. Plummer, Sr. (Dorine) and Angelina Williams-Buggs (Reese); her brother, Robert Francois, Sr. (Ann); six cherished grandchildren: Quinton R. Harrison, Rexford E. Plummer, Jr., Keri C. Bowie, Aaliyah D. Plummer, Gabriella R. Buggs, and Reese D. Buggs, III; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, her sister, Alta M. Louis, and her brothers, Herman Francois and Wilmer ("C.J.") Francois.
Lena will be remembered for her warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire all who knew her.
"Well done, good and faithful servant... enter into the joy of your Lord. "
