Mary Aneeda was born on June 29, 1951 in Houston, Texas to Calvin and Ester Goffney.  Mary was the oldest of seven children. Mary gave birth to John and Jerald Goffney in 1971 and Taliaferro Robinson in 1979. She married Eli Chancey, Jr. in 2001, and was a loving wife until his death in 2004. Mary had many professional achievements, including obtaining her BA from the University of Houston and Master's in Special Education from Prairie View A&M University, and was a dedicated special education teacher in the greater Houston area for over 32 years.

She is survived by her brothers: Carl, Anthony "Bubba", and David (Cedell) Goffney; three sons: John Goffney, Jerald (Sheila) Goffney, Taliferro (Alanna) Robinson; grandchildren: Travion and Toi Stoot, Jerald Jr., Jordan, and Jeremy Goffney, Talia Robinson, Kahlen and Nick Herron; and a host of loving cousins, including Betty Lowe, Cheryl, Damiane, Micheal (Kimberly), Laverne Curvey, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday September 18, 2025, at 9am. Services will be held in the Chapel of Ross Mortuary 3618 Lyons Ave. Houston, Texas 77020. Interment Houston National V.A. Cemetery.
