Obituary

On July 18, 1938 Mary Ethel Struggs Wooten was born to the late George Struggs Sr. and Ethel Ware Struggs. She accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized at Forest Lawn MBC by Pastor Johnson. She attended J.C. Sanderson Elementary, E.O Smith Jr. High, and Phillis Wheatly High School. Mary attended Houston Tech School for LVN, receiving a purple cap sponsored by Prairie View A&M University.
She attended North Harris College, Houston Community College, Prairie View A&M and San Jacinto College where she received an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (RN). She worked at the The Methodist Hospital in the Medical Center for many years in the operating room under the leadership Dr. Michel E. DeBakey. She retired from Northeast Memorial Hospital (Memorial Hermann) in 2000. She was also Director of several prestige nursing agencies and nursing homes in the Houston area. She also taught at several nursing schools.
She attended G.M.O.R. Seminary in theology and received a Bachelor in Theology. She was member of Pillar Of Glory church under the leadership of Bishop Amos York Sr. She later joined Greater Vision Church under the leadership of Pastor L.D. Lee Sr. & First Lady Alfredia Lee. She was a tireless worker in both ministries. One of her greatest moments was when she wrote a letter to President Barack Obama, which she called him her (special son) and he wrote her back.
Mary has four children and five grandchildren (raising two of them). She also has many step children, step grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a few step great grandchildren and several spiritual sons and daughters.
She is preceded in death by her father, her mother, her daughter, Linda Ingram, two brothers Pastor Othell Sharp and Johnny Ray Sharpe and granddaughter, Dominique Walker.
She leaves to cherish her memories her brother George Struggs Jr., two sons Tommy Walker (Cassandra), and Terrell Struggs. Daughter Patricia Walker, her grandsons Juan Ingram (Shalesa) and Braylon Walker, her granddaughters Latasha Ingram and LaPromise Arroyo (Christopher), Asia Wright, Latavia Walker and her daughter in law Tawanna Walker. Her great grandchildren, Crystal & LeDarien. Five God children, DJ, Chunky, Pie, KK, and Reagan. Her very best friend Minister Glenda Onezine, her new God given son Minister Elliot Harris, her Greater Vision and Pillar of Glory Family, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
