Patrick Lee Andress, the firstborn child of Lee and Agnes Andress, was born on September 18, 1941, in Houston, Texas. Raised in a devoted Catholic family, Patrick was baptized as an infant at Our Mother of Mercy Catholic Church in Liberty, Texas, surrounded by his parents and grandparents. Throughout his childhood, his parents instilled in him strong Christian values through the teachings of the Catholic Church and regular Catechism. By his early teenage years, he had received his First Communion and Confirmation, and he carried his faith in Christ throughout his life.
Patrick spent his early school years attending Our Mother of Mercy Catholic School in Liberty, Texas, alongside his siblings. As a young boy, he developed a love for music and enjoyed playing the saxophone, a passion he continued as a member of his school band in later years. His educational journey led him to E. O. Smith Jr. High in the Houston Independent School District. He briefly attended Phillis Wheatley High School before transferring to Kashmere High School, where he earned his high school diploma.
After graduation, Patrick was determined to pursue a path that would lead to independence and stability. He began his higher education at Texas Southern University before answering the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. Patrick served honorably for over 20 years, retiring with the distinguished rank of Master Sergeant. His commitment to service did not end there; he continued his career with the United States Postal Service, where he worked faithfully until retiring in the early 2000s.
During his military career, Patrick married Patricia Semien, and together they were blessed with four children: Michael, Joseph, Traci, and Stephen. From their legacy came a growing family, including cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy.
In the mid-2000s, Patrick returned to Houston from Arizona, a move that allowed him to spend more time with those he loved most. He found great happiness in visiting, entertaining, and sharing stories with his children, grandchildren, his brother Skip, and extended family. Known for his warm spirit, Patrick never turned down a lively game of spades or a fun road trip to the casino.
In late 2025 and early 2026, Patrick began experiencing respiratory challenges due to COPD. Even during this difficult time, he remained strong in spirit, never complaining, and was comforted by the constant presence of his loved ones. Surrounded by his son, brother, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, he leaned on his unwavering faith. On April 1, 2026, the Lord called him home.
Patrick was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Agnes Andress; his grandparents, Buford and Celestine Trahan Andress and John and Celeste Benoit Pradia; his sisters, Evelyn Andress and Janet Sims; and his children, Michael, Joseph, and Traci Andress Dickey.
He leaves to cherish his memory, son Stephen (Tamika); his beloved grandchildren, Seth, Ariel, Joseph, Michael, Caitlin, Isaiah, Erin, and Kaci; great-grandchildren, Tiana and Cayde McWoodson; his brother, John “Skip” (Edastelle); his aunts, Imelda Pradia and Theresa Jolivet; uncles, Johnnie and Lawrence Andress; his bonus daughters-in-law, Celina and Glenda; son-in-law, Gerald Dickey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
