Ronald Matthews Espree, age 73, passed away on November 28, 2025. Born May 9, 1952, in Houston, Texas, Ronald was the fourth of seven children born to Daniel Espree Sr. and Rosie Mae Norman Espree.
Ronald grew up in Houston and attended Rosa Lee Elementary, Terrell Middle School, and Kashmere High School. From an early age, he loved the outdoors and shared countless adventures with his siblings. During his teenage years, he explored many interests football, trail riding, roping, and bareback riding but his greatest joy was caring for his beloved horse, Jr. Boy, and learning automotive mechanics.
Ronald lived life with a radiant spirit, creativity, and a playful heart. He found happiness in simple pleasures: riding his Harley, camping, farming, restoring classic cars, and spending time outdoors with family and friends. Known for his remarkable ability to fix anything, Ronald was always ready to lend a helping hand.
He shared 40 years of love and companionship with his devoted wife, Rose Espree. After dating for many years, they were united in marriage on November 10, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and later received a blessing at Saint Francis of Assisi in Houston, surrounded by family. Their bond was built on love, respect, and unwavering support a partnership so strong they were rarely apart.
Ronald discovered his lifelong passion for small engine repair in high school, a skill that shaped his career. In his twenties, he worked at ARMCO Steel alongside his father and family until the mill closed in the early 1980s. He later pursued handyman and auto body work before beginning a distinguished career as a transit technician with the Metropolitan Transit Authority (Metro) on October 19, 1984. After transitioning to part-time work in 2020, Ronald embraced life's moments, enhancing his home and enjoying RV adventures with Rose and close friends. Ronald was admired for his remarkable ability to repair anything and for the mentorship he generously offered throughout his years at METRO.
Ronald's love extended beyond family, he touched the lives of his community, church, coworkers, and friends. His generosity and kindness were felt by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Espree Sr.; sister, Regina Espree; and nephew, Robert Gordon. Ronald leaves behind his loving wife, Rose Espree; five children-Tarah Espree (Roderick), Justin Espree (Nicole), Ryan Guillory (Amira), Matthew Broussard (Reyna), and Tyler Espree (Dy'Mond); his mother, Rosie Espree; brothers, Daniel Espree Jr., Larry Espree, and Olin Espree; sisters, Margaret Davis and Natalie Espree Chargois; 15 grandchildren; and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends each a testament to the love and legacy he leaves behind.
Ronald will be remembered for his hard work, devotion to family, and zest for life.
Ronald Matthews Espree departed this life November 28, 2025. Visitation Saturday December 13, 2025, at 8am., Rosary 10am., Funeral Mass 11am. Services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 3730 FM 160 North, Raywood, Texas 77582. Interment Sacred Heart Cemetery, Raywood, TX.
