Obituary

Rosa Mae Chaisson Miller — affectionately known as "Tiny" — was born August 30, 1935 in Sunset, LA to Joseph Eli Chaisson and Mary Merida Strauss Chaisson.  She was the last of seven children and grew up on a farm where her parents were sharecroppers in Sunset.

Growing up she spent her free time at her sister's home Alma "Little Mamma" because she was the same age as her children.  During this time, she was introduced to John B. Miller.  Soon after they married, on October 23, 1954.  Then left Louisiana and relocated to Houston, Texas.  In 1976, they moved to Raywood, Texas where they owned multiple businesses, retired, made a home for their family and final resting place.

Rosa Mae was born into the Catholic Church.  Dedicated to her religion she actively served her church and community.  Throughout the years Rosa served in every ministry of the church, from Eucharist Minister, Parish Council, to the culinary ministry — cooking for hundreds on any given Sunday.   She received numerous awards for her dedication to God and her devote service to the church.

A passion of Rosa was the Knights of Peter Claver, Ladies Auxiliary.  Before she joined, she supported her husband and his stewardship in the order.  In 1960, she became a Charter Member of Our Lady of Fatima Court #139 at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Houston, Texas.  Through many acts of charity and community service in 1981, she had the honor of becoming a Charter Member of the Meritorious Fourth Degree, Ladies of Grace Division, Inez Y. Bowman Chapter #2.  Later she transferred to Sacred Heart Court #83.  During her sixty-four years in the order Rosa was Grand Lady for over twenty-five years throughout her service.  During her tenure she was recognized Nationally with the Silver Medal for her outstanding service to the church and community.  Numerous times she has been acknowledged for her local work by the Courts and in 2018 as a Living Legend for Chapter #2.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings: Dora Bea Chassion, Alma Miller, Sylvina Jolivet, Josph Chaisson, Joyce Reder and Eli Chaisson; in-laws:  Alcee Mancy Miller and Emily Rubit Miller; brothers-in-law: George Miller, and Lloyd Miller; and multiple nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children: Charlette Green, Joan Stiger, Robynn Miller (David Crawford); grandchildren: Rorie Joseph (Jermaine), Gerran Harris, Rhea Brown (Jayson), Chelsea Miller and Gabby Miller; great-grandchildren: Kaden Stiger, Jaylia Joseph, Jasaan Joseph, and Jurnee Harris; her sister-in-law: Elsie Jones of Beaumont; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Rosa Mae Miller focus was on God, her family, church, and community.  She cannot be defined with one title because she was wonderfully made and blessed everyone with her special touch.  That touch spoiled all of her family.  Mom, Aunt Tiny, Tiny, Rose, Rosa, Rosie, or Mrs. Miller created a special individual bond with everyone she met, in turn allowing her to never meet a stranger.
