Willie B. Phillips Sr. "Bubba" departed this life January 9, 2015. Services for Mr. Willie B. Phillips are as follows: Visitation Fri. January 16, 2015, 9am. Funeral 11am. Services will be held at Fifth Ward Church of Christ 4321 Stonewall St. Interment Houston Memorial Gardens.
Willie B. Phillips, Sr., affectionately known as "Bubba", was born September 22, 1941 to Ruby Lee Pittman Phillips and Willie J. Phillips in Fort Worth, Texas.
At an early age, Willie accepted Christ at his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Union Ridge Baptist Church. He graduated from Dunbar High School in Fort Worth, Texas in the year of 1960. He furthered his education at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas.
Willie united in marriage in 1968 to the love of his life, Florence (Jackson) Phillips. They shared over forty-seven (47) beautiful years of marriage. Four beautiful children were born to this union: Cassandra, Patricia, Marcus and Willie Jr.
After many years of devoted service, Willie retired from Alpha Foods Company. In his leisure time, Willie enjoyed working on his truck. He absolutely LOVED, LOVED, LOVED his grandchildren. Did we fail to mention that Willie LOVED his beautiful grandchildren? They were all the apple of his eye and he would do any and everything to make them happy.
Willie's life came to a peaceful close on Friday, January 9, 2015, at Icon Hospital in Humble, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby Lee Pittman Phillips and Willie J. Phillips; and two sisters, Beverly Phillips and Leela Mae Daniels.
Willie leaves behind with precious memories of his life, his loving and devoted wife of forty-seven (47) years, Florence Jackson Phillips; two daughters, Cassandra C. Phillips-Price (Patrick) and Patricia A. Mergerson; two sons, Marcus Phillips and Willie Bernard Phillips, Jr. (Sherlonda); five grandsons, Marcus Phillips, Jr., James E. Robinson, Jr., Anfernee Tyrone Tillis, Cameron Phillips and Christian J. Tolliver; four granddaughters, Sherika Phillips, Jazmin L. Price, Aliyah N. Price and Joslin Phillips; sisters, Gloria Steward, Wanda Sanders (J. Sanders) and Yvonne Boudreaux; brothers, Leo Phillips and Otis Phillips (Michelle); and a host of other relatives and friends.
