Leroy Lacy, Sr. was one of twelve children born to Elizabeth and Byrd Lacy, Sr. in Chappell Hill, Texas on August 5 ^th , 1935.

Upon graduation from high school, he attended Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas before working for several years at mattress manufacturing firm, Quintero Brothers, in Houston, Texas. He acted on his entrepreneurial gift and industry expertise by becoming owner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Supreme Mattress Company for twelve years. He not only gave opportunities for employment and advancement to family members, but also to a culturally diverse group of people and to those in historically underserved communities. He later retired from Taylor Bedding in Taylor (Austin), Texas after fifteen years of employment.

Leroy, Sr. married the love of his life, Willie Mae, nearly 61 years ago. He adored her and he adored his children, his grandchildren, his great grandchildren, and his god daughter. He also cherished his immediate and extended family which included his brothers, sisters, his many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives - and people who were just like family to him – all of whom he lovingly referred to as "my people".

Church and a relationship with God had long been important to Leroy, Sr. who, together with his wife, brought their children up at East Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Sunnyside, Houston, Texas. He accepted his calling to ministry and became Reverend Leroy Lacy, Sr. in the year 2000, while living and working in Taylor (Austin), Texas. He was ordained at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas in January 2001. In the last several years of his life, he served as an associate minister at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, under the leadership of his son and Pastor, Leroy Lacy, Jr., where he served faithfully, as his health allowed.

He had a lifetime of service and was involved in numerous ministries and leadership roles in Sunday School, several men's ministries, the Deacon board, various choirs, and a gospel singing group. The people he enjoyed helping the most, however, were his immediate and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth and Byrd Lacy, Sr.; sisters: Leola Taylor, Edna Turknett, Alma Bailey, Bernice House, Pauline Lacy, Ruby Simpson; and brother Leon C. Lacy.

He leaves to continue his legacy and celebrate a life well lived, his wife, Willie Mae; his children: Janie Houston - San Antonio, Texas; Pastor Leroy Lacy, Jr. (Deborah) - Houston, Texas; Debra Lacy - Sugar Land, Texas; Catherine Lacy Price - Spring, Texas; Joyce Lacy – Katy, Texas; Dexter Lacy - The Woodlands, Texas; Derrick Lacy (Cassandra) - Katy, Texas; Dwayne Lacy - Houston, Texas; Goddaughter Tonya Douglas – Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; siblings Pastor Byrd Lacey, Jr. (Marilyn) – Houston, Texas; Velma Randle (Lordy) – Chappell Hill, Texas; Raymond Lacy – Brenham, Texas; Deverlene Lacy – Houston, Texas; brother and sister-in-law Bishop Curtis and Mrs. Minnie Lee Foster - New Waverly, Texas; maternal aunts: Evangeline Ferguson – Houston, Texas; Versia Hall – Houston, Texas; Katherine Walker – Chappell Hill, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, his church families, and many, many friends.

Reverend Leroy Lacy, Sr. departed this life on January 30, 2018. His funeral service will be Saturday, February 10, 2018, at 11 AM following a viewing period from 9:30 AM to 11 AM. Services will be held at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 Worms Street, Houston, Texas 77020. Interment will be held at Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland, Texas.
